Ok, so this is probably the most different of the designs I’ve made for this project so far in terms of what I usually draw, so I have a lot of things to say about it. To start off, this guy is based off of the many species of Spider Monkey that exist, as monkeys in general very strongly tied to the Nature element due to living in heavily forested areas, and being mostly herbivores, but Spider Monkeys even more so due to being mostly fruit-eaters and very rarely coming down from their treetop homes, so these guys felt like a very natural fit for the element. The issue was that I’ve never drawn any type of primate-like creature on this platform before, let alone a super lanky monkey with a super long tail like this one, so it took me a little while to get the proportions of this guy just right. The color palette was also something I struggled with as- unlike the other nature creatures so far- I didn’t have any specific theme in mind for this design going into it aside from knowing the elemental theme. In the end I kinda made the colors reminiscent of vines and forest foliage and a bit of yellow to kind of represent fruit, which is probably far from perfect but I really like how it turned out so I’m not gonna complain! Overall I’m very proud of how this little guy came out despite my lack of direction with it, so I hope you guys like it as well and I’ll be back tomorrow for the next creature!
