Fun fact: Spanish, Portuguese, and another language called Catalan make up a sub-branch of the romance language family (which includes all languages directly descended from latin) called the Ibero-Romance family, and we would all be able to understand each other perfectly but Portugual had to go and close themselves off from Spanish influence so now there's another language

If only it had been portuguese from the beginning... Then we'd all speaking such a better language...

Yup! I guess it is kinda easy to make that out since Portuguese comes from Latin, and Portuguese speakers can understand Spanish kinda well, sooo I think that it should be the same thing for the other way around.
