Unnamed story (Chapter 1: The Cutoff) (WIP)

Breakups aren’t always easy. Nobody should expect them to be. Especially not for me. This happened at least a week ago. Why we broke up was so unclear to me? Did he know he was doing something wrong? Was it something I did? Was he seeing someone else? The fight on friday? Those questions have flooded my mind since the day that it happened. If only I could–
“Hey,” A voice cut off my thoughts. A dark-skinned girl with rainbow colored dreadlocks and dark eyes with various piercings wearing cargo jeans and a red T-shirt. Ah, I’ve seen her before. What’s her name? Calypso? Chloe? Or was it Cleo? Ah, I forgot. Anyway- She’s one of the girls in my biology class. I’ve never really spoken to her, and barely know who she is, but it’s someone to talk to.
“Hi?” I say, trying not to come off as rude.
“I heard about what happened between you and Ryker on Friday. You okay?” She asked, picking at a sticker on my locker.
“Yeah, I’m totally fine- just- don’t worry about it.” I say, sounding a little more rude than intended. She put her hands up in mock surrender and backed away.
Don’t worry about it?? REALLY? Your heart just got broken, OF COURSE people are going to worry about it, Stupid! Ugh, I’ll just never talk to new people again.
...
Math. A class so slow it’s almost as though time never passes at all. After I finish my assignment, I just sit at my dest and stare off into space for the next five– minutes? Surely it felt like hours. I look around and see a hand slide onto my desk with a note in it. I look to see who passed the note. Julia, my best friend since middle school, who’s obviously changed a lot since then, but still kept the blonde hair, the blue eyes, and that greek nose that she had always been planning to get rid of. She nodded at the note with urgency, her eyes wide. I roll my eyes and unfold the note. It read:
Everybody saw what happened last friday. Just to clarify, Ryker, my ex, texted me to meet him on the football field after school to talk. It was a smooth conversation, then it turned into a whole argument. I won’t specify about what, but I’ll tell you there were definitely people there. I sigh and scribble a reply to her, passing it back quietly.
Of COURSE everyone saw. It’s not like the school was empty.
No. like, EVERYBODY saw. Ruby recorded it live.
What. Are you serious?? She actually went live just for that?
Yeah, there’s even posts about your argument.
Why would she do that?? That’s not any of her business, and she’s our friend, she wouldn’t- I stopped writing and pulled out my phone, checking all the accounts I possibly could. Julia had been telling the truth. There were posts about it. Ruby being tagged in almost every one of them. I sigh and pick up my bag, leaving as soon as the bell rings.
“Hey, Wait!” Julia called from behind me. I slow down for her, trying not to bump into anyone.
“I’m talking to her during lunch. That was none of her business and that’s not okay to do- I mean, WHY post about that to begin with?? What could you POSSIBLY get from sharing something that’s not even yours?? She’s such a two faced-” I get cut off by Julia.
“Yeah, we’ll talk to her during lunch– Hey, were you chatting with Calypso earlier?? I swear you were talking to her.” She mentions. I nod.
“She just wanted to see how I was doing after the break up. That’s all.” I simply replied. She nods understandingly.
“Oh, okay. I’ve never seen you talk to her, I was just curious,” She replies with a shrug.
