Lumino Lizard

You know, I often expect these creature drawings of mine to take significant chunks of time to create due to me only having a vague idea of how I want them to look in my head, and having to fill in those gaps as I go along which often results in a lot of reworks mid-drawing. And yet, for the last few drawings I’ve made, pretty much the first idea I came up with for the design ended up being what I’ve settled on for the final design, which has been extra surprising for this creature since it was a pretty last-minute switch. You see for my final Light-element creature, I was originally planning of using a Peacock, but after thinking on it some more I decided it’d be more interesting to use the iconic Frilled-Neck Lizard instead. This change was mostly for two reasons: 1; lizards have very strong ties to the element due to spending a lot of time sunbathing and some having the ability to change colors and regenerate from damage, all of which are attributes that can be tied to Light, and 2; I really like the idea of this enemy using its giant frill as a mirror to reflect the player’s attacks back at them, which will be an interesting challenge for them to find a way to work around when fighting them. And while I was thinking about this idea, the thought of using mostly shades of brown along with with pale yellow I use to represent the Light element was a really cool and fitting color scheme for this creature, and the final result came together quite nicely in my opinion. So with all of that said, I hope you guys like this fella as much as I do, and I’ll be back next week to tackle the last of the ten elements: Shadow!
