Effigies are at the lowest caste in the Mast. Of all Mastic augmental practices, this is generally one of the most controversial ones.

Making an effigy is pretty simple as augments go. Make a child and do all the normal steps [WBE], and in the mind [WBE], remove all emotional programs, and add whatever is needed for its tools. An effigy only needs to be able to do its duty.

This particular effigy is meant for analyzing structural stability and growths in organic matter, hence the hand augment and having 2 large dome cameras (the smaller one having better distinct perception). It also has the bare minimum protection, besides some bare traditional Mastic proportional defense [WBE]. It also has a symbol drawn on its chest to mark that it is not a "true" member of society.

Due to ethical concerns, when an effigy's job is completed sufficiently, it is usually given emotions back. If not, it is probably already dead. Also, an effigy can not be made from anyone with seer genes [WBE]. There are usually measure taken to make sure that effigy nurseries do not take people with them.
