In this fantasy world of mine, the element of Shadow embodies more than just literal darkness, as it also represents things like mystery, the unknown, and fear. After all, many things remain hidden in the dark corners of the world, and not knowing what may be lurking there is terrifying to many. In all of these regards, I feel like using a Raven as one of the hostile creatures of this element makes perfect sense, as these birds along with their Crow cousins have long been associated with the night, hidden knowledge, bad omens, and even death itself. For that reason I knew I wanted to make this design look like it was covered in bones, and this combined with the patterns on the feathers almost make this bird look like it’s undead, which is both very cool and extremely fitting. While it did take me a bit of time to figure out how to make it all work, I think the effort payed off tremendously and I’m very happy with how it turned out. So on that note, I hope you guys like this spooky bird as much as I do, and I’ll be back tomorrow for the next addition to the roster!
