Like with the Blast Beetle, this was one of the first ideas I came up with for the enemy creatures in my game, and I think this one will stick around for the long haul because of just how good it works. Foxes have long been associated with fire in myths and folklore, not not just with their fiery colors but also their quick and unpredictable movements mirroring the flames themselves. Combining this with elements of the Kitsune, shape-shifting multi-tailed fox spirits of Japanese myths that are sometimes said to be able to emit fire from their mouths and tails, and we have this small but deadly canine that constantly dashes around players while bombarding them with fireballs launched from their tails. Kitsunes can have up to nine tails in the myths, but I was only able to fit three in this drawing. I haven’t decided exactly how many tails I’ll give them in the final game, but these drawings are just meant to be representations anyways, so don’t consider this to be the end-all-be-all for this guy. With that being said, I hope all of you enjoy her and I’ll see you tomorrow for the final beast of Fire!
