I don’t know if or not I’ve said this on this platform before, but I really do not like insects. While there are a few bugs I think are super cool, namely dragonflies and mantises, I find all others to be either annoying, creepy, or straight-up nightmare fuel in the case of wasps and hornets. Bees are one of the bugs I feel neutral about: I understand that they play a vital role in maintaining plant population through pollination and that they won’t come after me unless I anger them first, but at the same time I’m not going to go out of my way to admire them like I would a dragonfly. Having said that, after doing a bit of research on the black-and-yellow buzzers, I’ve discovered that they have some pretty impressive electrical abilities. They build up a positive electric charge on themselves as they fly, which they use for everything from grabbing pollen from the flowers they land on, to telling if another has visited a flower or not, to aiding in communication with other bees, to even gathering in swarms to product enough electricity to influence local weather patterns. Upon discovering all of this, I knew that basing my final Lightning element creature off of a Honey Bee was a spectacular idea, and although it took me a while to figure how to draw the legs and stripes on this thing I feel like it turned out pretty well in the end. I also really the idea of these guys being pretty small and weak enemies in-game, at least on their own, but if they can gather into a large enough swarm they become exponentially more dangerous to fight, so good luck to any player that finds themselves in that situation. Anyways, I hope all of you enjoy this zap-happy little guy, and I’ll see you again soon for the next element on the list: Ice!
