The word that "orange" ultimately comes from is the Sanskrit word "नारङ्ग" ("naaranga") which was used to describe an orange tree, NOT the color!! It was loaned through a bunch of different languages and got completely changed a bunch of times (persian (which evolved from sanskrit directly) > arabic > spanish > italian > french > english) into the word we know today, and somewhere along the way stopped being used for orange trees and started being used for orange fruits. Calling the color orange "orange" is actually a pretty recently development, only starting some time while an early version of modern English was being spoken (1500s-1600s i think??) and before that everyone would've just considered the color a shade of red!

In short, oranges are oranges because people realized it was an easy way to describe the color that didn't have a word before, but apples aren't reds because the word red already existed :D

Probably nowhere particuarly interesting, but this fractal can create some really cool emergent behavior so i'm excited to see where it goes

the images will be added later on once we've already seen a large enough extent of the patterns that I want to mess around and see what happens
