Scrapodile

Just like the Armordillo from yesterday, this creature is one that’s relatively simple in concept, but I think I still managed to turn it into something pretty cool! Based primarily on the Saltwater Crocodile, these massive reptiles were chosen for two main reasons: 1. Their scales are incredibly tough due to being a mix of keratin and boney plates, making them comparable to literal suits of armor in the animal kingdom; and 2. Crocodilians as a whole have been around- with very little evolutionary change might I add- for about 65 million years, making these guys literal living fossils and thus perfect for this prehistoric-themed Metal element I’m creating. I feel like just using a crocodile by itself would be good enough of a prehistoric link for this design, but I decided to still go the extra mile and include elements of the famous Sarcosuchus, which might not be recognized as the largest crocodilian ever anymore, but it still got the nickname “Super Croc” for a good reason. And all of this rolled together is what gave us this giant semi-aquatic terror that can tear through any enemy that dares intrude upon its territory if they aren’t careful. To be honest I wasn’t sure how I was going to make this idea work once I started drawing it, but after fiddling with the tail and the color scheme for a while I managed to get something I was happy with. So with all that said and done, I hope you guys like this fella as much as I do, and I’ll see you tomorrow for the final member of the Metal roster!
