Learning More

Pt. 2 of me trying to learn how to pixel art
So the last one was the thing with the eye, but that was just the beginning of me learning more. Now, I'm learning about color theory and shading! This picture demonstrates the BEAR MINIMUM of color theory but it's the next step to me learning how to make things like Holzperle, or... L.333, dare I say his full username...
Basically, there's a specific curve called a sigmoid across the light spectrum, where your base color is in the middle, and to get shadows, you travel across the sigmoid going forward and decrease the value equally, and it's the oposite for getting highlights. For shading, try to make it random. It's very limited with smaller pixel art, so you'll wanna make sure that your art is large enough to be able to do it properly. I actually struggled quite a bit getting everything right on this because of that exact thing! This can also change depending on the texture of the material you're trying to convey.
Anyways, Happy Pixelling, and I hope you take something from this!
