After nearly a full month of not drawing anything for this project- which I apologize for Ive been dealing with a lot of psychological issues the past several weeks so please just bear with me- I’ve finally gotten my mojo back and am ready to get back to work! Now, for the first of the enemy creatures of the Light element, the very first idea I came up with for this element was a personal favorite animal of mine: the Peregrine Falcon. The main reason I chose this bird was for its speed, as when these guys use their signature divebomb technique when hunting they can reach up to 240 miles per hour, making it the single fastest animal on this planet. And because one of the things Light magic users can do is travel at the speed of light itself, giving that ability to this enemy just made way too much sense for me to NOT use it. Falcons do also have some strong ties to the element itself, which is mostly thanks to Egyptian mythology as their sun god Ra- the most important deity in the pantheon by the way- was commonly depicted as a man with the head of a falcon, which only reinforces the connection with light even further. And so all of this comes together to bring us this feathery speed demon right here, which was actually way easier to draw than I was expecting it to be and the final result is one that I think came out really well!
