many of these sketches are about expanding a sponge/cube into one level higher, in situ, using a copy/paste of the entire thing. The blue version builds the whole thing up from cubes in proper 3D, the rainbow colors identify which of the cubes still have faces visible in the final, and then time-lapses show how to build the final with a hex stamp, omitting the cubes that will be entirely covered over.
