I intend to snake back and forth across the short direction, skipping the first and last hexes, which can be used to encode some other info, like start and stop, winding direction, color key; I'm considering having keys embroidered on an embroidery machine, and crocheting around them, then seaming them to the first and last places. I also intend to do the cold temp as the first few rows, and the high temp as the outer few. I may add beads somehow for any precipitation, encoding amount of rainfall in some way.
