Is it theoretically possible for us to get a new planet in the Solar System?

Two of these could actually be possible-
What if the Astroid Belt was cleared out by an object that got large enough to be a sphere? Same with the Kuiper Belt? I know that if either of these happen, it will be WAY into the future, but still...

the asteroid belt is to spread out to ever become a planet however it is still possible for us to get a new planet if the sun captures a rouge planet

Reply to Fae: But that's also what many of the astroids are made of and either way if an object did manage to clear it's path it would still be considered a planet (check out the IAU)

No, because our current planets were formed by leftover debris from the Sun being formed. Unless one of the free-flying planets in the universe somehow made it into the Sun's ring of gravity and somehow stayed, which I doubt is realistic. I withstood my intense phobia of space to answer this question for you *thumbs up*
