I said yesterday that my next dragon redesign would be much more drastic than the last few have been, so hopefully you guys now understand exactly what I meant by that. The original version of this dragon was basically just a generic dinosaur shape with mantis arms, and while I was satisfied with it for a time, now I’ve realized it could be made much better by leaning further into the mantis inspiration. So to that end, with the exception of the head, I completely redrew this entire creature. The most notable differences between this new version are that it now has four legs instead of two, each one made to look extra insectoid, the arms are now longer, in a new pose, and have completely smooth blades rather than barbed claws like real mantises. These combined with its more upright posture give this guy a profile that I absolutely love, and although it took a bit of trial-and-error to get things to look just right, the final version is about as close to perfection as I can get and I couldn’t be more proud. I hope all of you enjoy this magnificent wyvern as much as I now do, and I will see you all next weekend for the last two Light dragons!
