Chapter 5: The journey

Shaki stood speechless as she marveled at the four fantastic winged beasts in front of her.
“Are these… pegasi?” she asked. Their mysterious helper nodded. She proceeded to remove her helmet to reveal silvery waist-length hair.
“My name is Galia. I would have liked to have told you earlier, but it was not safe. We will be riding the pegasi, but you must be gentle with them.” she informed. “They are gentle creatures who can carry you to safety.”
Shaki saw that Galia’s eyes were full of kindness and compassion, but she also saw sadness in them. She wondered why someone so cool would be so sad.

Galia watched as the young girl was fascinated by the creatures.
“We must get going. They’ll be coming, and we must get you to safety.” she stated. It was getting more dangerous by the minute, and she couldn’t let Shaki fall into the hands of the psychotic murderer, the King had trusted her not to.

Shinto was just finishing getting the rocks off of his feet when he saw a pair of black combat boots standing in front of him. He knew that his boss wouldn’t hesitate one second to kill him.

Siobhan loved the feeling of the wind flowing through her hair while she was running, but that was nothing compared to this. The pegasus — Peggy was her name — was going faster than she ever could.
“How much farther is it?” she called to Galia. Siobhan looked down and saw the tops of tall buildings. Her smile faltered when she realized that they were only over Toronto.
“About two hours,” Galia replied, and Siobhan let out a sigh. At least she was enjoying riding a pegasus. After all, it wasn’t exactly an activity she could just do anytime.

Topi looked down and almost threw up. She didn’t like heights, and this was a nightmare for her. Her pegasus — Steve — was going way too fast for her liking. And according to Galia she would have to endure another two hours of this.
“Do we have to be this high?” she enquired, hoping that this could all just end. Siobhan looked over at her and looked at her like she was dumb.
“If we go any lower, they’ll see us down there,” Galia pointed. Topi resisted the urge to look down again.
“Besides,” Siobhan commented, “they aren’t about to drop you.” Topi knew Siobhan was right, but that didn’t stop her from worrying.

Jaelyn watched as Psycho punched Shinto in the face. Shinto started gushing blood from his nose.
“Failure,” Psycho started, “is intolerable. But, because you are my prized assassin, I will give you one more chance. Capture the girl or I will have a new wall decoration.” He let out a blood curdling cackle.
“Understood?” he screamed. Shinto fell to his knees and nodded. His bright yellow hoodie was stained with blood.
“Good. Now bring her to me!” Psycho spat in Shinto’s face. Psycho walked over to his car and drove off. Jaelyn got on her knees and started to tend to Shinto’s bloody nose. What had she gotten herself into?

Étoilette watched as Jaelyn helped Shinto clean up. She felt bad for the girl, Jaelyn was only 18 and didn’t fully understand what it meant to be working for Psycho. Étoilette knew, and so did Shinto. If they failed this mission, their lives would be lost.
“We need to get going,” she urged. Shinto got up and nodded. Jaelyn looked at her, wide eyed.
“But…” she started, “I’ve never been on a mission before. I don’t really know what to expect.” Étoilette looked at her, wondering how this sweet, kind girl ended up working for a psychotic killer. Either way, she would protect her from him, and nothing would stop her.
