i've been trying to go by the "this will pass" ideology for a while, and it really isn't helpful!! it's hurtful, actually
"you are capable of coping and being happy" is more accurate
if the situation is, in fact, something short and temporary, "this will pass" is better, but I'd recommend wording it differently, because just because something passes doesn't mean its effects are over.
