[CONT.] Chpt 1 [I don't know what to call this, sue me]

[CONT.] He has quite the beautiful pattern on his back."
At the realization of the fondness she has for the kits, the queen purred softly. Wanting to be on friendly terms with Mosskit, I walked over to talk to him. I told him how he pounced was silly, trying to tease him but all he did was stare. Did he not get that it was a joke? His smaller brother stared as well, do they not know how to talk? Surely they're too old to not know how, they're not too much younger than me and my sibling. Before I could do anything else, Sunkit wobbly walked over, opening his mouth to talk with only a hoarse noise coming out. He cleared his throat, again trying to speak. "Mosskit can't hear you," he eventually made out.
"Oh, do I need to talk louder?" I asked. How come he can't hear me when everyone else can?
Sunkit looked back at his brother, seemingly to not look at me, "No, he can't hear anyone, no matter how loud they are. He was born that way, he's deaf. The only way you can interact with him is through action."
I felt my ears turn red with embarrassment, trying to tell myself I couldn't have known that any other way. With Sunkit so close now, no longer hiding in the darkest corners, I had another realization, half of his face lacked fur, the same side as the clouded eye. "Was your face like that when you were born too?"
The fluffy kit seemed to be startled by the question, "I-I no, I got wounded, like Mosskit's belly wound," he turned his face towards the wall, out of my sight.
I tried to ask more but Leafdapple thought it'd be better if I let them get used to their new surroundings. Snowcatcher led me and my sister back outside to play, leaving behind the younger kits. They eventually got used to us, even coming out to play, but Sunkit didn't talk too much. I must've said something he wasn't fond of. Despite that, Sunkit taught me, or at least tried, how to interact a little bit with his brother. Mosskit reacts well to my attempts regardless of my many slip ups.
A lot of the older warriors turn a cold eye from these kits not from Meadowclan. The apprentices and younger warriors would try to play with them but both Sunkit and Mosskit would give a distrustful glance before running off to hide. Soon the apprentices copied the older cats' treatment of them. One sunrise we were playing as cats from different clans. I was a strong and fast cat from Torrentclan so I rushed into Sunkit's side. He seemed shocked by this attack, weakly stumbling over. Mosskit, aware of what happened, rushed to his littermate's side to check him for wounds. Scared that I actually hurt the small kit, I backed up.
A gruff voice behind me told me to move over. Recognizing the voice, I did as not to make him mad. Goldenweb gently pushed Mosskit out of his way before thoroughly looking Sunkit over. The only two cats that seemed worthy of what little affection Goldenweb could provide were Leafdapple, who from what I've been told was his brother's kit, and Sunkit. "He doesn't have any visible wounds, must've been spooked," Goldenweb turned an accusing eye to me before looking back to Sunkit, "Why don't you join me in my den? It'll be calmer there than out here."
The large tabby flicked his tail, signaling to follow. Sunkit looked back at us, Sparrowkit already getting back to playing, before standing up and running after. After the light tip of his tail disappeared into the medicine den, Mosspaw walked over to bat my ear. I've been taught that that's his way of saying 'give me your attention' so I looked at him. Once he knew I was watching he covered his eyes with his paws. Of course I had no idea what this meant but he kept doing it. Eventually he got frustrated and nodded for me to copy, so I did. I could hardly see anything between the spaces of my paws, what was the point of this? Mosskit then put my paws down then covered half of his face. The same side Sunkit's scarred skin shows. After a while realization hit. Sunkit must not be able to see well out of the clouded eye, if at all, and yet I attacked him from that spot.
Shame flushed my pelt as I crouched to the ground. Mosskit, seeing this, made a noise that I think was supposed to be a giggle. He crouched once again, welcoming me back into the game. Before I could return the gesture, Sparrowkit leaped forward, pummeling me to the ground. With a squeak I threw her off, going back to playing a strong warrior of Torrentclan.
