Elk'star is the current Prarie'clan leader. He came to power after the murder of the previous leader by the clan's old medicine cat, Golden'web. Elk is a mostly serious and stoic cat, unless it comes to the queens of the camp.

He is the father of Deer and Sparrow, but both the "kits" and the clan don't know that, it was kept a secret from everyone. He also despises the other clans and wants to try and prove to them that his clan isn't weak and lazy. (the clans think this because they often stay out of conflict and "build" gardens of plants they like, which is just putting rocks in a circle to keep others from trampling the area).
