So funnily enough, this guy was probably just as hard to draw as the last insect I drew here, but this one was for an entirely different reason as trying to get the colors- especially on the wings- legit took me all morning into the afternoon to figure them out. I’m still not entirely sure I’m satisfied with the final color scheme I came up with, but all things considered I think this was the best I could do at the moment, and even so I still think it looks good! Part of the reason the wings were so hard was because I tried to base the design off of a butterfly species called the Cairns Birdwing, the largest butterfly species in Australia known for having very colorful wings. I knew from the very start I wanted to base one of my Light creatures off of a butterfly due to their colorful wings and having strong symbolic ties to brightness, hope, spiritual themes, and other ideas tied to the element. But as it turns out, trying to replicate the complex color patterns on real butterfly wings is much easier said than done, so in the end I decided to just do my own thing with the wings instead, with this being the result. Again, I’m not saying that it’s perfect, but I do think it’s the best I can do right now, and I still think it looks good so that’s good enough for me!
