Her hand shifted slightly and one of the great dragon statues near the stairs came to life. It stepped forward, onto one of the Nadri. Riding it was her little sister. Abyss spotted Nightshade and her mother fighting off a lot of the Broyians.
“Abyss, the gem!” her mother shouted urgently. Abyss shook her head, but then her mother was stabbed through the chest. Abyss let out a howl of rage and attacked anyone in her path. Her blade sliced through air, metal, and skin. It hummed with satisfaction at this.
She didn’t stop fighting, until she heard the Luparian Gem speaking into her heart, They mustn’t get to the power within…
Abyss closed her eyes for a moment, and time slowed down. She felt the fabric of reality shift, and the palace walls started to close in. When she reopened them, there was a faint glow around her. She felt the Gem cracking, power flowing out of it.
One of the Broyians tried to slash her neck, but she caught his blade with her own and pushed him back before finishing him off. She shifted through different forms of animals as the air glowed. She was a large cat, slicing through armor weakened by her power with her claws. She was a dragon, burning those who stood in her way. She was a giant, breaking the walls. She was all of them, and yet none of them as she fought. She was Captain Abyss Luparian, now Queen Luparian. She was one of the last of her kind. She felt it deep inside her. And she was furious. The fury pushed her on. She was an invincible, ever changing warrior. Nightshade fought beside her, just as destructive. The flames grew higher, edging closer.
