Remember when I said the Chromatic Cuttlefish was the easiest to draw out of my Light creatures! Welp, this guy right here just blew the rainbow cephalopod out of the water in that regard, because this didn’t even take me a full hour to finish. Honestly the only hard part of this drawing was getting the neck to look right, and once I did everything else just fell into place perfectly. And while the end result is relatively simple compared to what I usually make, there was nothing else I could have added to it that made it look any better, so despite its simplicity I’m actually really happy with how it turned out! As for why I chose a horse as one of my light creatures, the main reason is that white horses are often treated as symbols of light, purity, nobility, and even divine power in some traditions, and even have ties to some mythology’s sun gods. I was also inspired by a fantasy book series I used to read as a kid called Familiars, which followed the exploits of three animals who where the familiars of three wizards in training as they went a globe-trodding quest the save world, and in that book there exist these magical horses called Lightmares that can basically run at the speed of light. Although it has been many years since I last read those books, they still hold a very special place in my heart and this is sort of my way of paying homage to them with my own work. But all of that aside, I hope you guys enjoy this guy as much as I do, and I’ll be back tomorrow with the final Light creature!
