One of the very first ideas I came up with for the enemy creatures for the game, this guy has two real-world main inspirations. The concept is based on the Bombardier Beetle, which is famous for the searing hot chemical mixture it sprays for defense, while the actual design is based on the Black Fire Beetle, which likes to seek out recently burned wood to lay their eggs in for whatever strange reason. I’ve done other designs here that are reminiscent of insects before, but this is my first attempt at drawing an actual straight-up bug, and despite that I think it turned out pretty well.
