To be honest I feel like this was both the easiest of my Light creatures to draw so far, and the most fun to create at the same time! My main inspiration for this creature was the fact that cuttlefish have probably the best camouflage abilities in the entire animal kingdom, able to change both the color and texture of their skin at will so they can practically disappear into any environment. This power of theirs was already a good enough reason for me to use a cuttlefish as the basis for one of my Light creatures, but there’s one other fact about these animals that served as the main inspiration for this design: the fact that cuttlefish are extremely intelligent to the point where they’ve learned how to rapidly change their colors to basically hypnotize their prey. That made me want to go in a very psychedelic direction with this guy, hence the rainbow colors you see on its mantle and tentacles. I imagine that in-game these guys will use their color changing abilities to confuse and disorient the player- probably even making illusions of themselves to take this even further- before attacking from the angle they least expect, and I absolutely adore that idea! And yes, they will also be able to mind-control other creatures to do their bidding for them, making them the undisputed Apex of the Light element and a true test of my player’s abilities. So yeah, good luck taking these things down. But in the meantime, I hope you guys enjoy this fella as much as I do, and I’ll be back tomorrow for a much simpler creature!
